The
Executive Director also introduced members of the
team who will spearhead the event. He said they
represented the best creative and technical minds
available in Jamaica.
They
are: Martin Lewis, LOC Opening Ceremony Manager;
Brian St. Juste, Technical Department Manager; Delano
Forbes, Technical Production; Lawrence Tulloch,
Technical Production; Carol Lawes, Creative Department
Manager; Monica Lawrence, Costume Manager; Peter
Ashbourne, Music and Score; L'Antoinette Stines,
Dance and Movement; Bert Rose, Props and Production
design; Jerome Hamilton, Artiste Bookings and Lisa
Jenoure, Operations and Logistics Manager.
"We
believe this team has the capacity to get the job
done and will, working with the other LOCs, which
I can confirm to you is happening, deliver a first
class event that the region will be proud of,"
he noted.
In
addition, the Jamaica LOC has contracted Angela
Thame and Margaret Miller, to develop and implement
an Opening Ceremony specific marketing programme.
" We believe that this event needs to be marketed
in a way to ensure that it is positioned properly,"
Mr. Bryan stressed.
As
for what fans can expect at the opening ceremony,
the Executive Director said that the event would
last for two hours, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The presentation,
he further explained, would be "Pan Caribbean
representation of culture, dance and music from
the region". Specifically, the show is expected
to consist of performances by superstars from Jamaica
and across the region.
"If
you wish to understand more about the ceremony,
you will definitely need to buy a ticket now,"
he quipped.
"The
participation of the consultants and cutting edge
technology in the production of the event, will
add new dimensions to this made-for- television
[spectacle] and will be broadcast live to millions
of viewers worldwide from the impressive and breathtaking
and now existing Multi Purpose Stadium in Trelawny,"
he added.
Jamaica
has been awarded the yellow package, which includes
the opening ceremony. This award did not require
Jamaica to produce the event but to simply host
it. However, the Jamaica LOC was approached by the
CWC 2007 Inc. in May to assist in the production
and planning of the event.
In
the end, an agreement was reached and the CWC 2007
Inc. chose to remain the executive producer of the
event, while the Jamaica LOC opted to manage the
production of the ceremony.
