Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez made a three-hour working visit
to Jamaica on Monday March 12, during which he held
discussions with Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller
on a range of bilateral, trade, cultural and economic
matters. The two leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding
covering the supply of 150M cu. Ft. of Liquefied Natural
Gas (LNG) per day to Jamaica, to facilitate the expansion
of power generation and the bauxite alumina sector.

Barrington
Irving, age 23, became the first African American and
the youngest person ever to fly solo around the world.
Irving took off from Miami in a single-engine aircraft
at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 23rd. In his Lancair
Columbia 400, the veritable Ferrari of small aircraft,
Irving traversed four continents over the next 5-6 weeks,
clocking 130 hours of flight time. His "World Flight
Adventure" took him to 23 locales including the
Azores, Spain, Greece, Egypt, Dubai, Hong Kong, Thailand,
Taiwan, and Japan before returning him to the U.S. via
Alaska.

The Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Bandleaders Association
(ACCBA) has once again partnered with Atlanta Caribbean
Folk Festival (ACFF) to bring the Atlanta Caribbean
Carnival 2007 and Parade of Bands. This event is
one of the largest and fastest growing cultural
events in the Southeast and promises to bring the
sights and sounds of the Caribbean to the City of
Atlanta.
