Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Dr. Kenneth Baugh has announced the appointment of former Senator and Member of Parliament, Mr. Anthony Johnson as Ambassador-designate to the United States of America.
Currently Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management Studies, Mona, He succeeds Ambassador Gordon Shirley, Principal of the University of the West Indies, who ended a three year tour of duty in August.

Government to Move with Zero Tolerance on Crime |

Minister of Labor and Social Security, Pearnel Charles, has assured Jamaicans living overseas, that the Government will be exercising, zero tolerance on criminal activities. Minister Charles, who was addressing, the Jamaica Central Labour Organization (JCLO), annual Christmas Luncheon in Washington DC said stamping out crime remains a priority of the Jamaican Government .

RGD Reports Increase in Applications
in the Jamaican Diaspora |

The recently announced requirement by both the Jamaican and US Governments in the cases of individuals seeking to access immigration related services including citizenship, and Jamaicans seeking to renew their Jamaican Passports must present a birth certificate, has created a massive application intake by the Registrar General’s overseas outreach team now visiting the United States. This was disclosed by RGD’s CEO Dr. Patricia Holness while addressing the Jamaican community at a Town Hall meeting recently held in Atlanta, Georgia.
