Jamaican students excel at the New Jersey State Catholic
Schools Track Meet for Freshmen and Sophmores |

Two Jamaican
youngsters struck Gold on Sunday February 11th,
2007 at the annual New Jersey State Catholic Schools
Track Meet for Freshmen and Sophmores at the Jersey
City Armory, Jersey City, NJ.
In the 60 metres dash Marvin Whilby of Don Bosco
Prep High School, Ramsey, NJ was the victor in a
time of 6.52 secs over the distance. Marvin formerly
lived in Kingston, Jamaica; and now resides in Teaneck
NJ with his Jamaican parents.
In the 3200 metre race; Leighton Spencer of Don
Bosco Prep High, Ramsey, NJ was also victorious,
winning the two mile event in a time of 10 minutes
and 10 seconds. His previous best time was 10 minutes
8 seconds two weeks earlier on the same track. Leighton
resides in Chester NY with his parents Dr. Patricia
Miller- Spencer and the Hon Noel Spencer -County
Legislator of Orange County, NY.
Both athletes are sophmores and having been representing
Don Bosco in Football and track for the past two
years. This past year Don Bosco Prep was the NJ
high School football champions. The recently concluded
Cross Country season had Don Bosco winning the NJ
State Non Public School title and finishing second
at the All Public Schools Championship, losing their
no. 1 state ranking to Jackson HS
