For the sixth time in these Olympic Games Jamaica has managed to mine gold. The men's 4 x 100m team blew away the competition  breaking the former 16 year world record of 37.40 seconds with a brilliant  37.10 sec.

The first two legs of the race held strong competition for the entire field however when third leg and 100 and 200 meter world record holder, Usain Bolt, took the baton he broke away from the pack giving Jamaica a confident lead, which was extended when Asafa Powell  brought the team home.

The Bolt and Powell were joined at the finish line by their first and second leg, Nesta Caterand Michael Frater where they quicky collected Jamaican flags from nearby supporters and continued around the Bird’s Nest stadium for a victory lap.

This event brings Bolt’s gold medal tally to a perfect 3 for 3, and Jamaica’s medal total to 10.
