New Ambassador to the United States, Anthony Johnson, presented his Letters of Credence to President George W. Bush, at the White House on April 9.

A former Member of Parliament, who previously served as Minister of State in the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, as well as Agriculture during the 1980s, Ambassador Johnson more recently served as Minority Leader in the Senate and was a senior lecturer in the Department of Management Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States Anthony Johnson says, “all efforts will be made to increase export from Jamaica to Philadelphia which now stands at just under 100 million U.S. dollars to 200 million dollars”.

Ambassador Johnson gave the assurance to representatives of the Philadelphia City Council when he visited the city recently.

The art exhibits of two Jamaican artistes Paul Blackwood and Courtney Morgan took center stage on Tuesday April 29 when their art exhibition was open to the public at the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, DC.

The four day art exhibition showcased over seventy five pieces of the two artists’ works specializing in Landscapes, Abstracts & semi-abstracts, Oil on Canvas and Collages.

Jamaica was featured as the only Caribbean country at the 67th staging of the Annual Flower Mart 2008; the premier outdoor festival for garden and floral enthusiasts from the mid-Atlantic United States region, which was held from May 2 to 4 in Washington, DC.

The event was staged on the grounds of the historic Washington National Cathedral, as a tribute to South Africa some seventeen countries displayed floral arrangements and had as its theme 'Flowers Around the World.'
