President of Haiti, Rene Preval, expressed his gratitude for Jamaica's outpouring of support for his country as demonstrated by Prime Minister Golding during their meeting at the United Nations office in Port au Prince yesterday ( January 14).

Minister of Information, Daryl Vaz gave this update during a press conference at Jamaica House this afternoon (January 15).

Members of the Caricom Caucus of Ambassadors, Academia and the Jamaican community residing in Washington D.C. and the metro areas began paying tribute to the late Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Professor Rex Nettleford, O.M.,on Friday, February 12, 2010 when a condolence book was officially opened at the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, DC.

Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Professor E. Nigel Harris, has said that the passing of cultural icon and educator, Professor the Hon Rex Nettleford O.M., is a "colossal" loss for the university community, and the region as a whole.

Professor Nettleford, who was Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the UWI, Mona and founder of the National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC), died on February 2 at the George Washington Hospital in Washington D.C. in the United States, hours before he turned 77.
